Another outstanding fundraising effort for posh bingo.

Thank you to the amazing Posh Bingo team for another outstanding fundraising effort. Inspired by a group of local mums, Posh Bingo is now in its 3rd year and has become an annual fundraising tradition, raising thousands for The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust.

Posh Bingo once again jumped and jived (35-ed) its way into the Highfield Infants’ School hall to raise thousands of pounds for The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust. Everything about the fun-filled evening, held on Friday May 17 (dancing queen), was tickety boo (62). Amongst the laughter, lines of bingo games, bottles of bubbly, live auction and raffle, nearly £9,000 was raised. And thanks to additional donations to the Posh Bingo team following May’s event, a total of more than £12,000 has been raised for the charity.

This year’s Posh Bingo was Lucky Number 3 – the third, consecutive, Posh Bingo night to have been held at Highfield. Prior to bingo balls bouncing into this Shortlands-based school, two swishing evenings – stylish, sustainable clothes swaps – were also held here. This means that, over the past five years, the Highfield community has raised more than £40,000 for Chartwell.

This means a great deal to the school because, over the past few years, it has provided invaluable support to two Highfield families. Five years ago, Beau Apsley was diagnosed with leukaemia. Her mother, Larissa, and a group of local mums, were inspired to raise funds for Chartwell and began what has now become an annual fundraising tradition.

Previous years have seen the Highfield community raise funds to support essential nurse staffing, observation and breathing machines, and a new kitchen for Tiger Ward. This year, the monies raised will go towards the purchase of a No Isolation Robot.

Larissa said: “The Posh Bingo team would like to thank all those who helped make our event such an enormous success. This includes everyone who attended our fun-filled evening and/or bought raffle tickets and auction prizes. It also incorporates the many businesses who kindly helped fund the event’s refreshments and donated to our raffle and auction. Our fundraising efforts would not be possible without your kindness and generosity.

“We think you will all agree that £12,000+ is a staggering sum that will be greatly appreciated – not less because some of it will be invested in an No Isolation robot enabling children who are too sick to attend school to continue their education.

“Thank you for your kindness – it’s these moments which bring us together as a community and show how much we care about our local children who are fighting cancer.”

This year’s Posh Bingo event was made possible thanks to donations from many local and UK-wide businesses including: Keith Catchpole, Argos, Bunka, BlackRock, Breeze Yoga, Bromley Football Club, Chapter One, Cleverbox, Carluccio’s, Giraffe, InterTalent, Mytime Active, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Nuffield Health Fitness Wellbeing & Gym, Primo Caffé, Percy & Reed, Sainsbury’s, South of the River, Tesco, The Manor at Bickley, Tibbs Military Fit, Toni & Guy, Whistles, Vue (Bromley), Cook, Coughlans’s Bakery, Harper’s, Hobbs, My Place, Muscari White’s Floris, Paperchase and Waitrose.
