SKYLA AND THE SNOWFLAKE FAIRY

An enchanting rhyming children’s story for 0-5 year olds

A sprinkling of fairy magic. A dusting of shimmering snowflakes. Meet Skyla, a little girl whose dream comes true thanks to the Snowflake Fairy. A beautiful insight into Skyla’s first exhilarating, snowy encounter and proof that if you believe enough, your dreams really can sparkle.

Children’s author Reina Bonici-Mompalao-Lee published this award-winning illustrated book in 2019. Diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2013 at The Princess Royal University Hospital, Reina wrote the story whilst undergoing treatment for her illness. During this hugely difficult time, Reina felt moved to channel her energies into creating something joyful and uplifting for her daughter, who features as the main character in this touching tale.

Early in her journey with cancer, Reina met Prakash Sinha – a truly distinguished consultant surgeon who was at the forefront of her treatment and care from the very start. Prakash was a great supporter of her work and together they were making exciting plans to collaborate in fundraising for cancer care when sadly Reina’s illness returned for a second time in January 2020. Plans were put on hold but since then Reina has continued to pursue her ambition and the book is now out in the world! This enchanting rhyming story with an educational twist can be enjoyed by children and their families everywhere. Reina has gone on to share her work with young school children across the world through in person and virtual readings and interactive workshops. We are delighted and moved that Reina will be dedicating proceeds from the sale of her book to The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust, in recognition of the incredible work of Mr Sinha and the charity which was so close to his heart. The book release coincides with the birthday of Prakash Sinha on 18th April to honour his memory and to thank him for saving her life twice over.
