Oncology families are welcome to stay at Sophie’s Wish for a holiday or weekend break funded by The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust. All this is possible because of one beautiful girl’s dream, Sophie Powell.
During 2019, 15 oncology families holidayed at ‘Sophie’s Wish’ Lodge in Whitefcliff Bay. The ‘Darwin’ family stayed at Sophie’s Wish last summer. Ivy’s dad Daniel said: “We had a wonderful time. Ivy was diagnosed with Leukaemia in June 2017, and, since then, we have struggled to have a proper holiday. The Lodge is superb, the perfect size, and in a great location with stunning views across the Bay. The weather was good most of the time, which meant we could enjoy the beach, Osborne House and the Steam Train.
The children loved Robin Hill, especially Ivy, as she had the freedom to climb on the adventure playgrounds, and was awed by the fire jugglers!
Thank you Sophie for giving us this opportunity, for which we will be forever grateful.”
Another family said: “The lodge was beautiful, warm and comforting. The kids loved the holiday park, especially the toddler time with the entertainers. It’s so close to the beautiful Sandown beach and the Zoo. After reading Sophie’s story, we love how Sophie’s memory is being kept alive through the lodge.”
Sophie’s Lodge relies on fundraising support and donations for its upkeep and maintenance ensuring that our families have the best time.
