On Sunday 19th May, Kevin Kingshott and 10 of his friends cycled 22 miles, much of it uphill, across the Southdowns in memory of his niece, Lily-Mae. All tradesmen by day but remembering little Lily-Mae and paying their respects. This yearly event was started by Lily-Mae’s Uncle Kevin and Grandparents as a way to say thank you to The Chartwell Cancer Trust for supporting the Cruttenden family at a time when it was greatly needed.
Kevin said: “Another year comes around and the intrepid ‘one day a year’ cyclists are doing their bit to remember Lily-Mae Cruttenden. Some of them picking up their bikes where they ‘dumped’ them in the back of the shed from last year.”
Kevin set the route which starts from his home in Seaford, heading inland to the top ridge of the Southdowns then back to the coast, taking in some of the views on the way, (not that they had time to look).
Grandad, Nanny Jemma and Kevin’s two boys showed their support by going for a full English breakfast and arrived back to Kevin’s home just in time to hand out some well-deserved Beer!
Congratulations and thank you to you all! Don’t forget to oil those chains for next year.
